ABOUT THIS WINE:

Domaine Abeille

Domaine Abeille

French White Wine

While Provence gets the hype and the fancy Mediterranean parties, Gascony is beating heart of the French countryside. When you think of rustic French cooking you are almost always thinking of food from Gascony: duck confit, pâté, and pork surrounded by fresh fruits and vegetables. These rich dishes match a heritage of equally rich wines. The Domaine Abeille is an intensely aromatic white wine that can’t be overlooked. Made on the coast of Southwest France it will pair naturally with foods that come from the ocean. We love it with fish prepared in a rich sauce.

Due to state registrations, we cannot ship this wine to CT.

WINE REGION:

Outline of Côtes de Gascogne IGP

Côtes de Gascogne IGP

Gascony is the ultimate expression of rural, southwestern France. Vineyards stretch from the peaks of the Pyrenees to the Atlantic Coast. Food and wine are significant parts of the culture here, where locals reliably have a bottle of "Côtes de Gascogne" on the table during meals. These are usually white blends featuring Ugni Blanc, Colombard and Sauvignon Blanc. They are typically light-bodied and dry with refreshing citrus and tropical fruit notes. Though red and rosé wines from this region are rare, those found are usually made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Tannat. IGP (Indication Géographique protégée) within France’s wine classification system focuses on controlling regional and geographical origin. The category is less restrictive than the AOC classification and gives winemakers to have more freedom with style and taste profile when creating wines.

TASTING NOTES:

Pear

Mineral

White Flowers

Our experts can't get enough of this aromatic French white. Ripe fruits dominate the nose but are balanced by the crisp acidity. We love the subtle hints of herbs. This wine is good as an aperitif before dinner, or with rich, vivacious foods.

ABOUT THE BRAND:

Domaine Abeille

Abeille is French for bee. While honey is normally associated with mead making, this is named for the bees because of the integral part they play in the grape cultivation process. The bees are able to help pollinate all the plants around them, which for the winemakers is optimal to showcase the nuanced flavors of a terroir.
