ABOUT THIS WINE:

Rancho Campo

Rancho Campo

Malbec

Some wines are meant to be light and breezy, to be enjoyed on their own before a meal. But some are meant to complement meals, to make the pairing better than the individual experience. This Malbec works very well on its own, especially if you like tannic, complex wines. That being said it shines with grilled and spiced meats. The fruit flavors, strong minerality, tannins, and ineffable savory notes play perfectly off of complex foods. We think that a spiced lamb dish, grilled sausages, rustic stews, and even blue cheeses would work beautifully. Judges like it too! It took home a Silver medal at the 2020 International Eastern Wine Competition, the 2019 Winemaker Challenge and at the 2019 San Diego International Wine & Spirits Challenge.

WINE REGION:

Outline of Argentina

Argentina

Winemaking in Argentina is all about altitude. Many of its most prominent vineyards are situated at elevations exceeding 2,000 feet, where the cool nights help grapes retain zingy acidity while reaching full juicy ripeness. Probably best known for its flagship red grape Malbec, Argentina has become a South American enological powerhouse. The rich dark fruit flavor and smooth chocolate finish have made Malbec a global favorite. Along with its bold reds, Argentina is also known for aromatic white wines such as the peachy, floral Torrontés. International favorites like Chardonnay, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon also grow well in Argentina's high, dry soil.

TASTING NOTES:

Mineral

Blackberry

Black Pepper

This is a beautiful expression of the Malbec grape. We love it for the full fruit flavors, strong minerality, and well-integrated tannins. There is a lingering savory note that plays perfectly off of complex foods. We recommend spiced lamb, grilled sausage and rustic stews as pairings.
