ABOUT THIS WINE:

Ruskin Ridge

Ruskin Ridge

Chenin Blanc

Clarksburg, California is part of the Sacramento River delta. This means that the soils are a mix of clay and sand that have washed down the river and into the delta over millennia. These soils force grapevines to work very hard and work in conjunction with warm days and cool nights supplied by a maritime breeze from the Carquinez Strait. The wine is a great example of what Chenin Blanc from this region can taste like and has beautiful, light notes of citrus, pear, and apple. The acidity isn’t as intense as you would get in a Sauvignon Blanc and the mouthfeel is a little creamier. It’s why we like pairing this with fresh seafood: oysters, scallops, and clams. But it would also be an amazing addition to fresh salads and white pizzas. We are also happy to report that it recently came home with 92 points and a Silver medal at the 2019 New York International Wine Competition and another S ...

WINE REGION:

Outline of Clarksburg

Clarksburg

Lying south of Sacramento in the California Delta, Clarksburg is a small but productive AVA where quality Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc grow in abundance. The San Francisco Bay has a strong influence here, bringing in fog and cool breezes that temper the valley heat. With its flat, mineral-rich clay soils, vines thrive in Clarksburg, needing little attention to produce plenty of quality grapes. Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Albariño and the red variety Petite Sirah also produce great wines here.

This light and airy Chenin is a wonderful wine to start your evening with. It has medium acidity, a balanced profile, and a beautifully creamy mouthfeel. They taste of tropical fruit and citrus play well with or without food. We have thoroughly enjoyed it with fresh seafood: oysters, scallops, and clams.

ABOUT THE BRAND:

Ruskin Ridge

Victorian-era writer and art critic John Ruskin was well known for his literary talents. In addition to his writing, the pages of his notebooks often included detailed sketches and paintings of local landscapes and native flora and fauna. Ruskin believed an artist's duty was to stay true to nature. His literature emphasized the romantic connection between nature, art, and society. It is this ideology that fuels the passion behind Ruskin Ridge. Each of our wines is a pure expression of its region's terroir, with every sip firmly grounded in the truth of nature.
