ABOUT THIS WINE:

Watchful Maker

Watchful Maker

Cabernet Sauvignon

Awarded 90 points from Wine Enthusiast Magazine, this Cabernet Sauvignon is full-bodied and robust. Blended from parcels of fruit selected from vineyards around the area, each lot was aged separately to allow the respective terroirs to fully express themselves. Prior to bottling, lots were blended perfectly to create harmony between the unique profiles and vineyard sites. Columbia Valley in Washington State is one of the most pristine and beautiful wine regions in the US. Relatively unknown until recently, the appellation now boasts stunning and bold red wines. The climate is hot and dry, unlike the wet and cold environment that many typically associate with the Pacific Northwest. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.

WINE REGION:

Outline of Columbia Valley

Columbia Valley

Sheltered by the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, Columbia Valley is home to the majority of Washington's vineyards. Cool nights keep zippy acidity in the grapes, while long daylight hours give the fruit plenty of chance to ripen. This results in full-bodied Merlot, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon and deeply concentrated Syrah. White wines are just as tantalizing, with toasty oak-touched Chardonnay and ripe stone fruit-flavored Riesling taking the spotlight. Sub-AVAs to look out for are Yakima Valley and Walla Walla. The Columbia Valley is one of the only appellations in the United States to occupy vineyards in two states, as it crosses the Oregon border in the southern part of the valley.

TASTING NOTES:

Mocha

Blackcurrant

Blackberry

Dark fruit flavors of blueberry, blackcurrant, and deep red raspberry marry together with mocha notes. The taste is complemented by polished and fine-grained tannins that lengthen each sip. "The aromas draw you in, with notes of fresh blackberry, black currant, leaf and herbs. The flavors are fresh and plump, while showing an elegant styling. Any oak is far in the background. Give it plenty of time to open up, and pair it with grilled flank steak." –Sean P. Sullivan, Wine Enthusiast Magazine
